WOOOT!!! What a ride!!!

If you're a TM fan like me and read Soulless as part of the King series, you would have met Rage, and from that short glimpse of her, you can tell she's as crazy as crazy come, and you gotta love her for it!

Rage is different, that's for sure. To say she has anger issues is an understatement. Neither a sociopath or psychopath, but there's definitely a personality disorder albeit with a heart, if that even makes sense. There is innocence to her thoughts despite the violence she surrounded herself with. On the one hand, she has no remorse, or morals to a degree, but she has a code she lives by and unconsciously cares for a select few. She does her business and moves on to the next. Until she met Nolan.

Nolan, who at first appeared to be just this collegiate boy, turned out to be the perfect fit for Rage. He understood Rage's anger; he gets her, period. Not just that, turned out he had secrets of his own. 

Interestingly enough, for all of Rage's edges, she was cute with some of her thoughts. She's funny, she's tough, she's quirky, she's resilient. And Nolan, ooh boy, can this kid can talk the dirty talk and take charge/care of Rage or what! Hot dang! Oh, and I'm not even gonna touch their times together. Ay papi!

I seriously don't know how TM does it. Her stories are demented in a delicious way, scary in a fun way, and twisted in a hot way. She makes me cringe with the violence, makes me care for her perfectly flawed characters, makes me engrossed with where she takes her characters and makes me fan myself for the yummy way her characters come together. Dang! This book is another perfect example. That's all imma say...

Ooh, this new series by Bethany-Kris and London, I dig it! London’s a new-to-me author, but not Bethany-Kris. As much as I keep telling myself no more series for me, I keep getting sucked in. Here’s one good example of that. 

It’s like Romeo and Juliet set in New York with the mob backdrop; she of the Italian Cosa Nostra and he of the Russian Bratva. Meeting once as children, these 2 moved on with their merry lives until their paths cross again. 

They were forbidden to cross paths but it just kept happening anyway. The one event that started this all brought on more consequences, no thanks to Violet’s friends, and that’s what got the ball rolling further down the forbidden path that neither anticipated. 

Violet was one lost girl. She wasn’t doing well in school. She has friends who were not real friends. She was “daddy’s little girl” who had to abide by all of her father’s rules. She’s got no voice in that household, sadly. Yet, I admit, I wasn’t always able to empathize with her. But what I got loud and clear is how she felt about Kaz. Not just in words but in thoughts. How can I not?!? Even I can see why!:p 

Kaz, Kaz, even with the circumstances at the end, he’s DA man! I love how self-assured he was, how protective, how tough, how caring he was with his family… umm, how hot he was *winks* and how dirty his mouth could get *giggles*… And I got loud and clear how affected he was by Violet, right from the start… sigh… 

The 3rd-person narrative threw me off at times. With dual POV, the transition wasn’t as seamless in my head at times. But I’m pretty sure it’s just me. On the whole though, if you’re a fan of mob romance and ready to lose yourself in a series, this is definitely a good addition. There’s a love story for sure, there’s violence, there’s substance, there’s suspense, there’s drama, there’s heat. Oomph! 

Now I wait for book 2… and on that note, crossing fingers that Ruslan gets his story too. *nudge-nudge*

Drop in Center

The Wayne Foundation operates the third drop in center in Florida recognized by the Department of Children and Family Services. It is located in Charlotte County Florida, and serves clients throughout Southwest Florida. Our target clientele are young women aged 13-25. Our DIC is equipped to provide daily services that include, but are not limited to: Food, New Clothing, Access to Shower, Media Center, Mental Health Assistance, SNAP/ Medicare Benefit sign-up/renewal, Family Counseling, Education Assistance, and Transportation To and From the Center.

Shelter Services

The Wayne Foundation continues to have the goal of providing shelter services to young women victimized by exploitation or trafficking. This is our primary long term objective.
