COVER REVEAL: One by Jewel E Ann

COVER REVEAL

Synopsis

Lake Jones is a cover girl for cutting-edge prosthetic legs, a binge-watcher of Netflix, known to spy on her neighbor through her door’s peephole, and fond of laser games with her hairless cat. She’s also a bit sexually-frustrated.

Until …

God bestows a breath of mercy upon her in the form of Minnesota’s NFL starting quarterback. But this gift is no stranger. Lake met Cage Monaghan three years earlier.

It was one day.
One moment.
One kiss that resurrected her dreams of finding love.

His dimpled smile distracts from his imperfections, which include: a love for country music, fishing, and a feline-hating girlfriend.

When life finally gives them their chance, it’s a humorous and heart-wrenching journey to find their place in the world.

"We would be Cage and Lake. We would be unpredictable. We would be reckless. We would give normality the middle finger.”

***This book is a standalone. However, it is HIGHLY recommended that any readers who have not, but may consider, reading the Jack & Jill Series, do so before reading this book. It contains spoilers to Jack & Jill.

Excerpt

“Wow. Nice basement. Or shrine. It really is more of a shrine.”

Cage laughed, taking our luggage into the bedroom. My eyes remained glued to the wall.

“I’m glad you see the humor in it so I won’t feel so bad when I say, ‘Oh. My. God.’ I mean, common sense tells me there has to be a wall behind all these posters and photos, but without that common sense it really does look like the posters and photos are the wall.” I stepped closer, inspecting the non-existent spacing between the frames.

            Cage in high school.
            Cage in college.
            Cage with Minnesota.
            Cage receiving award after award.
            Cage.
            Cage.
            Cage.

“My mom is my number one fan.”
“No sh!t. I’d considered taking on the role myself, but clearly I’m way out of my league.”
He swept my hair off to one side and kissed my neck, pressing his body to my back. “Have I told you today how beautiful you are?”
“No. N-not yet.” I closed my eyes as his hands slid under my shirt, finding their way to my breasts.
“You are. You’re so damn beautiful in every way.”
His touch made me crazy. The ending of my cycle made me horny. The combination of both made me not care where we were. I turned in his arms. My grin screamed come hither.
            “Couch, Monaghan.”
            He quirked a brow.
“Don’t make me say it again.”
He smirked, taking several steps back before flopping onto the enormous brown sectional. I grabbed one of his tennis shoes and pulled it off and then the other. His socks followed suit.
“Can you feel it, Monaghan? You’re getting ready to score again. What if your off-season record surpasses your regular-season record?” I “shrugged off my shirt.
His gaze dropped to my chest. “I love when you talk my language.”
I slipped off my shoe. Each item of clothing got tossed in a different direction for theatrics.
My favorite dimples came out, approving of my strip tease.
“Mind if I lose the leg?” I asked.
He shook his head. There really were no words to describe how his lack of any sort of reaction made me feel.
            Not one flinch.
Not one nervous glance at my leg.
            Not one second of hesitation.
It was as if I asked whether we could listen to music while having sex. Cage didn’t see my disability. He found every version of me sexy. I found my heart hurting from the fear that someday he would look at me and think “Holy, sh!t! You’re missing part of your leg.”
With equal flair, I tossed my leg over the back of the couch and straddled his waist in just my black bra and panties.
“I think we can be honest with each other, Monaghan, so I’m going to let you in on a little female secret.”
He tore his eyes from my breasts and met my gaze.
“By the end of a woman’s cycle or period as you don’t like to call it…” he rolled his eyes “…we are horny, as in, there is probably a twenty-four to forty-eight hour gap where you could f*ck a woman senseless and she’d still beg for more.”
His Adam’s apple bobbed, swallowing that little nugget of information. “Sh!t! I brought you to my mom’s house during your f*ck-me-senseless time.”
I shrugged, reaching behind me and unfastening my bra which got tossed over the couch as well. “Rookie mistake, Monaghan. Now … the real question is…” I wet my lips while unfastening his jeans “…what part of my body is going to give you your first orgasm tonight?” ”

“Jesus, Lake …” His breath caught just as I finished pulling down his zipper.

RELEASE BLITZ: Into the Nothing by BT Urruela

Title: Into the Nothing
Series: Broken Outlaw #1
Author: BT Urruela
Release Date: June 21, 2016

Xander Evans has been on the road for many years. Never settling. Always moving from one place to another, unable to let go of his past. He lived a tragic childhood, spending most of those years in foster care. He's never felt like he's had a home. That is until he stops in the small town of Truman Valley, Missouri, where he meets a woman who will change everything he's ever known.
Paige Watson has it all. A loving family, beautiful home, and a great career. The only thing she's missing....is love. After escaping an abusive relationship, she opens her heart up to a stranger. He is unlike any man she's ever met. He came into her life and turned it completely upside down. Everything is perfect. That is, until one fateful night.
A night that would tear the Watson family apart, never to be put back together again.
A night that would send Xander away to prison for life.

"He was over here for like five hours last night drinking and talking with Dad. You think I like him? My dad's in love. And the way he didn’t hesitate to put Benji in his place, I just think Dad’s got a good feeling about him."
"Sh!t, I've got a good feeling about him too... and it's in my panties." She laughs and motions toward her crotch. "If I had been working and saw him do that to Benji's fat ass, I would've let him f*ck me right on top of the bar…and I would’ve let everyone watch."
"Brandi!"
"I'm serious. F*ck it!”
"You're ridiculous."
"Paige, don't tell me you didn't notice that anaconda stuffed into his jeans?"
"What?! What the f*ck are you talking about? Anaconda? I wasn't looking at his damn jeans." I laugh, finding it hard to not to love this girl who has become like a sister to me. She's the craziest bitch I know, but she's got my back no matter what. She's had it since day one.
"Why wouldn’t you look at his jeans? That’s where his d!ck is!”

Review

RATING:

Well, well, well… Not sure what I was expecting, but this wasn't it... that's a good thing, I swear... just bear with me...

Before anything else, this may not have anything to do with the book, but I do want to give a shout out to BT. I’ve been stalking, I mean following him, on various social media platform and I couldn’t be more impressed at the things he’s accomplished, never mind his looks. What?! Have you seen him?? *g* He’s very engaging and I always enjoy perusing his SM accounts, just saying…

Even though I own a copy, I haven’t had the opportunity to read A Lover’s Lament, which he co-wrote with another author, but this one is his first solo attempt. For his first solo write, I say not bad… The opening of the story grabs you immediately; that’s for sure.

Xander has quite the past, tragic at that. He was full of secrets, a transient at heart, and Paige’s town just happened to be one of the ones he was passing thru. He met Paige and her dad by fluke, and what was meant to be temporary ended up not being so. Paige and her family took him in, feelings starting to grow until that fateful night, that is.

I really really wanted to love this. It’s got the elements I usually enjoy in my romance reads. Just hear me out... I'll talk about the things that didn't work for me BUT there are definitely things that worked for me...

Where I may have had some issue is the pacing. While I appreciated all the details, which allowed for relationship building, it felt like it made the pace quite sluggish. It made me wonder if the way the timeline was laid out got me impatient, especially with such a captivating start. And because I couldn’t quite match the pace, I admit it did affect how I felt about the characters. As well-fleshed out the MCs were, there was a bit of detachment that I couldn’t help but feel. Consequently, I questioned some of their actions and the maturity of some of their decisions, and as much as I’m one for lots of dialogues, some felt superfluous.

Then, on the other hand, it felt like too many things were crammed at the end. Things that I felt could’ve been expounded on more to make for a more dramatic impact. Mind you, the ending has quite an impact as it is.

BUT, BUT, BUT... Having said all that, while the execution was not necessarily on point in my mind, the story itself is quite unique and definitely not predictable. I had no idea where BT was taking these characters. There was foreshadowing that was handled deftly. There were really heavy issues tackled, issues that BT did not appear to shy away from and that’s quite gutsy. And while I did not quite warm up to the female characters including Paige, the male characters were fascinating and engaging, which included Irish and Twitch in addition to Xander. Xander really was the highlight of this book. He’s flawed, made bad decisions, and has quite a bit of issues but in the end, he’s as stand-up as stand-up get. BT also didn’t give me a traditional ending, which left room for some contemplation and speculation, which I appreciated.

I think BT could have even taken this onto the darker side, but I understand a more contemporary approach will widen his market. That's just me... And I sincerely believe that in time, BT will only get better as he hones his craft.

So like I said, for his first solo write, not bad, not bad at all…

BLOG TOUR: Tiger Shark by LP Lovell

BANNER-Tigershark-BLOGTOUR TIGER SHARK IS LIVE!

Go 100% Alpha with Landon and Georgia!

TSEBOOK3

Blurb:

London’s square mile is witness to a revolution, a new breed of business woman. They call us tiger sharks. We out-earn, out-work and out-play our male counterparts. We work the system, play the game and most importantly, win. In a city full of sharks only the most ruthless make it to the top of the pool.
The number one rule: never sleep with the boss. Ever. I had no intention of breaking it until I met my new boss. No matter how strong my resolve, Landon Banks can smell weakness like a shark smells blood in the water, and I’m bleeding. The hunter becomes the hunted, lines start to blur, and I have a choice to make. Screw or be screwed. Of course, I never was much good at taking it like a bitch. Landon Banks will be learning to grab his ankles if I have anything to do with it. Things are about to get interesting in the game of predator versus predator. Who will come out on top?

(WARNING: Graphic words/language; NSFW)

Masque is where the darkest of creatures come to play, to fulfil warped desires without judgement or persecution. After all, you can’t judge what you can’t see. I slip the mask out of my hand bag and tie the ribbons at the back of my head, pinning them into my hair with some grips. I knock on the door of what looks like a respectable and extremely expensive town house in the centre of London’s most affluent area. The door opens, revealing a guy in a black suit, a plain black mask covering his eyes. He glances at my membership card and he waves me through. Inside it looks exactly how you’d expect a high end sex club to look. Dark, luxurious, sensual. Rock music fills the room, contrasting wildly with the velvet chaise lounges and crystal chandeliers. Within the club, people resume a new identity. Their masks become their identity. Mine looks like a cat, the faint stripes of a tiger painted along the delicate lines that outline my face and accentuate my sharp cheekbones. There’s a certain thrill in hiding, because in hiding who I am, it allows me to be who I really am. I come here for one reason, to be liberated on every level. I go to the bar and perch on a stool, crossing my legs and allowing my short black dress to ride up my thigh. The waiter slides a martini in front of me and I thank him. I allow my gaze to drift around the room, shopping, because everyone in here is on the menu. My gaze stops on a guy sitting on one of the sofas, his fingers buried in ... the woman straddling him. His mask is distinctive, made of white porcelain and depicting a Greek god. I know from experience that he has a body like a god as well. Sometimes I like to be surprised by a new partner, but other times I like to know that I’m going to be satisfied. Apollo as I call him, always satisfies my more aggressive appetites, and tonight I feeling positively savage after my interaction with Banks. There’s nothing like a powerful man to make my inner alpha b!tch rear her head with bared teeth. I down the martini and stand, swaying my hips a little as I make my way to Apollo. He looks up, his eyes meeting mine through the mask that covers his eyes and nose. His lips kick up slightly on one side as he assesses me with a cockiness I’ve come to expect of him. The woman moans, her fingers clinging to his shoulders and scratching over the material of his open shirt. “Come.” I say to him. “Well, it would be rude not to finish the lady.” He says, humour lacing his voice. I tilt my head to the side and study the girl, her long blonde hair cascades down her bare back as she throws her head back. I step close to her and grab a handful of her hair, fisting it. She moans, pushing her chest out. He watches me intensely as his bicep tenses, his fingers sinking deeper inside her. I bend over, dropping my face into the crook of her neck and placing a kiss to her soft skin before sweeping my tongue up the side of her throat. Her breath hitches and she trembles gently. I lift my eyes to meet his, and I see the spark of lust in them, the need eating away at him as I wrench her head back even further and slide my free hand down her chest... She bucks and writhes, moaning like a wanton slut as she rides his hand. “F*ck.” He says, completely enraptured by the sight of her coming apart under our combined touch. When she’s done, he practically throws her off him and rises to his feet. My eyes instantly hone in on the bulge straining against the material of his trousers. His shirt remains open, the hard planes of his stomach on display. I jerk my head towards the stairs and he follows me without question. This house has twenty rooms, each one identical to the other. For those who like their play a little rougher, there’s the basement which houses a dungeon. I have certain tastes, but they don’t venture into ‘chain me up and beat me’ territory. We pass a line of doors, all with a red ribbon tied on the door. These are the occupied rooms, although some people don’t bother with the ribbon in the hope that someone walks in on them. Each to their own... I push open the door and step inside, watching him close it behind him with a resounding click. I take slow steps backwards into the room, until a chaise bumps the backs of my knees. He pushes his shirt over his shoulders and allows it to fall to the floor. Apollo is a good looking guy, and he’s utterly shameless. He likes sex anyway he can get it, and if it makes him come, he’s game, the harder the better, any means necessary. I reach behind me and lower the zip on my dress, shrugging the straps off my shoulders and allowing the material to pool at my ankles, exposing my bra. Of course with that mask, I can’t make out his expression clearly. It makes him seem hard and implacable. For some reason it makes me think of Landon. It shouldn’t be a turn on but it is. I step out of the dress at my feet and hook my thumbs into my knickers. I pause for a second, call it dramatic effect if you like, before slowly sliding them down my legs. Still he doesn’t make a move or breathe a sound. Lowering myself onto the chaise lounge behind me, I smile and beckon him forward with a crook of my finger. He obliges, crossing the room and coming to a halt right in front of me. I reach up and trail my fingers down his firm stomach before I unfasten his trousers and shove them down his thighs... “Get on your knees.” I command. He steps out of the material at his feet, kicking off his shoes and socks quickly before he does as I say and gets on his knees, completely naked in front of me.

Review:

RATING:

I gotta hand it to LP. With that title and blurb alone, it was enough to pique my curiosity and give her work a try; plus considering that this trope is probably one of my lesser favorite, boss-employee, unless the MCs didn’t know at first contact, which is def not the case here. I’m always nervous bec one wrong turn and we’re talking trampling all over standards of conduct. That’s just me and my quirks… But like I said, I give her credit for catching my attention despite all my misgivings.

Georgia is one interesting h. Talk about an alpha h! Don’t often come across someone like her. Did LP make it work? I think she did. It’s one thing to read an alpha H seen thru the eyes of the h, but it’s another when you’ve got an alpha h and you have access to her thoughts. Real slippery slope down to d0ucher-y, or in this case, just plain b!tchiness. But what LP managed to do is she made me understand her. It wasn’t a smooth path, but she got me there eventually, how about that! Quite frankly, I was ready to throw in the towel by the thirds-mark, with Georgia just coming across as having too much of an edge and a chip on her shoulder, real peach of a b!tch, AND a kink that caught me off-guard to boot, but slowly, I started to see her growth. While flawed and all, I understood her motivation so next thing I know, I’m right there by her side, cheering her on. Interesting…

Landon, I liked him. I actually wish I liked him more but I think Georgia’s strong personality overpowered his a little, so I as much as I wanted to swoon over him and appreciate his actions and words, I didn’t totally get into him; almost run-of-the-mill, if I may add. What I would say for certain though is that he was the fitting H fitting for Georgia. Boy did he “handle” her well! *winks*

Their coming together is full of heat and animosity so just imagine their smexy times! Georgia’s “kink” is not one I’ve read in my romance reads before so that did raise my eyebrows a bit but again, not sure how LP did it, but she sold it! Having said that, it should be noted somewhere that there are other people involved albeit a small part and there’s a touch of M/F/M here, and it’s probably an M/F/M that you don’t often come across with (at least not for me anyways), so if that doesn’t float your boat, just be warned.

In the end, for all my reservation, and as much as I didn’t agree with all their actions and decisions, I was more engaged than I thought and I’m glad I gave this book a chance. It’s got enough elements to make it different, it’s smoking hot, and it’s got honest emotions.

COVER REVEAL: Thin Lines by Bethany-Kris

THIN LINES CR Banner

THIN LINES

by Bethany-Kris Donati Bloodlines #2
Publication Date: July 5, 2016
Genres: Adult, Organized Crime, Erotic Romance

THIN LINES Cover

  Synopsis:

Calisto Donati Calisto had never been a fan of pain, but he found it provided a certain relief. It was a high that couldn’t compete with anything else he experienced. That was why he fought bare-knuckled, why he drove fast, despite knowing he might crash, and why he still enjoyed looking at Emma Donati—no matter her current status. Pain felt good. He might have been a fool for doing so, but as long as he got what he wanted from it, he didn’t really care. When he fought, he was given release. When he drove, he was given freedom. When he looked at Emma, he was given memories. All of them brought a certain level of pain. All three might kill him someday. Calisto glanced at Emma, taking her in again when she didn’t know he was looking. He realized then that only one might actually be worth dying for. Emma Donati Emma kept her gaze on the book in her lap, pretending like there wasn’t an argument going on across the room. She had become terribly good at acting like she didn’t hear. Calisto watched her out of the corner of his eye while he argued on with Affonso. She was too focused on Calisto to care about their fight. His anger. The tightness of his jaw. Searing soul-black eyes. The two men were not the same. They might have shared blood, but their hearts were entirely different. One man never let her out of his sight when he was nearby. The other acted like she didn’t exist. This was what it was like, she realized, to be in love with someone she couldn’t have. Calisto Donati would never be hers. This wasn’t a fairy tale that would end happily. They weren’t star-crossed. They were impossible.

WARNING: The first two books in the Donati Bloodlines Trilogy end on a cliffhanger, the third is a HEA.

EXCERPT- WALK THAT LINE

"Of course I care.” “A lot more than you should,” she pressed. Calisto’s chest constricted with pain. He’d convinced himself long ago that it was only imaginary where Emma was concerned. He couldn’t possibly feel something for someone that didn’t belong to him and that he could never have. He just couldn’t. “Thank you, Calisto.” Those three, seemingly innocent words struck him straight in his blackened, worn heart. She’d spoken them so quietly, but surely. Confident, even, like she knew exactly what they would do to him. It hurt. God. But he liked it. Calisto liked that she acknowledged him and what he did. He had needed it, and while every part of him screamed how wrong it was, it made him feel like a f*cking king. Before Calisto could think better of his actions, he stepped forward and grabbed the door, shutting it without even looking out to see who might be watching. Emma’s enforcer must have been around somewhere, but was he close enough to see? Calisto was close enough to Emma that the silk of her dress brushed against his arms. He could smell the hauntingly sweet perfume she wore, and he took another breath, wanting to have more of it soaking into his lungs. “Where is your driver?” “Carter is at a table,” Emma told him softly. “He’s ordering for us. I told him I would invite you out to eat with us.” Calisto watched her mouth move, and the way her two front teeth peeked out through her upper lip. It was still a goddamn tease. He still hadn’t gotten this woman on her knees below him like he’d wanted to. Jesus. Why was he walking on this tightrope again with her? “We can’t do this,” Calisto murmured. Emma’s bottom lip disappeared beneath her teeth. “We’re not doing anything, Cal.” “We are.” It didn’t have to be labeled to be something. It still was. “Thank you for reminding me that I wasn’t alone,” she said. “You’re not, Emmy.” “Not when I have someone who cares watching out for me, right?” Calisto knew better, but he snagged Emma’s wrist in his palm and held tight. The heat of her smooth skin siphoned straight into his bloodstream, like a shot of adrenaline right to his heart. It was bad, but it was right. It was good, but it was wrong. “Right?” she asked again. Her green gaze, jaded with pain and seeking something, watched him with an understanding that he didn’t know how she had gotten. He’d been careful with her, not wanting to bring her too close but never keeping her too far away. Clearly, Calisto hadn’t been careful enough. “Right,” he finally said. Emma took a tiny step closer, her heels clicking on the tile floor. Her warm breath washed over his jaw when she tilted her head upwards so that she could stare at him again. “We’re not doing anything,” Emma said so quietly that he strained to hear. “Someone has to know we’re doing something for there to be anything, Cal.” “I’m not sure if I want to walk that line, Emmy.” “Liar.” Calisto’s jaw ticked. “I—” “Liar, you do. Because you care.” He didn’t even get the chance to blink before Emma lifted up on her tiptoes, and pressed her mouth to his. For a quick second, Calisto was stunned. All he could feel were her silken lips covering his, and her hand fisting into his jacket. He couldn’t think beyond the sweet-smelling perfume that reminded him of candied cherries, or the emerald eyes watching him, demanding he deny her what she was asking for. How could he deny her? After everything, how was he supposed to do that? Calisto was far too selfish to stop Emma or to push her away. He cared too much. When she grabbed his jacket tighter and pulled, making him stumble into her warm body, Calisto was gone. His one hand landed to her waist while his other tangled into the chignon at the nape of her neck. He pushed her backward until they came to stop against the door. Emma laughed—breathy and low—against his cheek. It made him f*cking ache.

(WARNING: Graphic words/language; NSFW)

Reeve smirked—he loved it when I begged—but he didn’t take me where I wanted to go. Instead, with his fingers pinching my chin, he twisted my face so that my cheek pressed against the glass. “Look,” he said in reverence. The mirror ran the whole wall behind me then wrapped around the vanity so, facing this direction, I could see our reflections in the glass, half eclipsed by steam from the shower. He let go of me long enough to wipe the fog then resumed his grip on my jaw. I stared, transfixed by the sight of his c*ck driving into me over and over. With my focus where he wanted it, Reeve rearranged my legs, bringing one foot up to brace on the counter and propping the other in the sink. Now I was angled so that my cu*t could better be seen in the mirror. It was naughty and erotic and I couldn’t stop staring. “Look at that,” he said again, his fingers jabbing into my skin. “The way you let me use you is so beautiful.” Beautiful. It was beautiful. The way he had me spread out awkwardly across the bathroom sink, naked while he was still clothed—it was vile and wicked and oh, so beautiful. “I can’t control myself when I’m inside you.” His voice was ragged and threadbare. “I want to tear you apart. I want to rip you to shreds.” He moved both of his hands to grasp my thighs, tilting my pelvis so that his thrusts hit even deeper. “I want to destroy you. Want to f*ck you to pieces. Want to shatter you. Want to break you.” His awful, wonderful words set a storm to gather low inside me, and I could tell that this time it wouldn’t back down. I shifted my hands from the counter to his forearms to brace myself for its attack. The movement drew his attention from the mirror to my face. “Want to break you,” he repeated, his words more of a rumble than actual speech. “You do,” I said, peering up under heavy lids, my voice a mere rasp. “You do break me. Every time.” Reeve’s eyes sparked in awe, then the muscles in his neck grew taut and his rhythm stuttered. With a low growl, he froze and spilled into me, his fingers digging so deep into my skin I was sure they’d leave bruises on my thighs. It was so hot, how he defiled and wrecked me. So hot how he loved to see me devastated. So hot that I joined him in his release. My mouth fell open and my climax took over, coarsely racking through my body. Even with the mirror supporting my back, I was freefalling, spinning with pleasure. Only a thin layer of sweat and steam covered my body, but it felt like I’d been pulled underwater into a whirlpool of bliss. Reeve put himself away, then watched me as I finished, as if completely enamored with my orgasm. As if completely enamored with me. It was somewhat disconcerting to feel his eyes so heavy on me. He’d seen me come so many times before, but I’d never noticed him so intent. I lowered my gaze, but he lifted my chin, forcing me to meet his stare head-on. With a gentle touch, he swept a lock of sweat-drenched hair from my forehead. “Every time?” He’d been tender with me in the past, but it wasn’t his usual M.O., and it startled me. Moved me as I realized it came from a place of concern. “Yes,” I answered honestly, because he did break me, every time that he stuck his c*ck inside me, every time that he made me climax, every time that he touched me. Outside of the moment, when the sex was over and we were people instead of sex-driven beasts, it sounded horrible. Who would want to be broken by her lover? Who would want to be destroyed? I do. I always did. I longed for it and needed it. I needed him. I caught his hand and pressed the back of it to my cheek. “It’s the only reason I ever want to be someone who’s put together. So that you can break me all over again.”

Publication Date: May 31, 2016
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romantic Comedy

  Grin&BeardItCover

Sienna Diaz is everyone’s favorite “fat” funny lady. The movie studio executives can’t explain it, but her films are out-grossing all the fit and trim headliners and Hollywood’s most beautiful elite. The simple truth is, everyone loves plus-sized Sienna.
But she has a problem, she can’t read maps and her sense of direction is almost as bad as her comedic timing is stellar. Therefore, when Sienna’s latest starring role takes her to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park she finds herself continually lost while trying to navigate the backroads of Green Valley, Tennessee. Much to her consternation, Sienna’s most frequent savior is a ridiculously handsome, charming, and cheeky Park Ranger by the name of Jethro Winston. Sienna is accustomed to high levels of man-handsome, so it’s not Jethro’s chiseled features or his perfect physique that make Sienna stutter. It’s his southern charm. And gentlemanly manners. And habit of looking at her too long and too often. Sienna has successfully navigated the labyrinth of Hollywood heartthrobs. But can she traverse the tenuous trails of Tennessee without losing her head? Or worse, her heart?

Review

RATING:

GAH!!!

First and foremost, let me just put this out there, I so heart these Winston boys!!! I've said that before when I first read the 1st book in the series, Truth or Beard, I'm saying it again, and I'm pretty sure I'll be saying the same for the rest of the series. And Cletus, I'm also pretty sure he'll always be my most fave. I know up next will be his story (yay!), but just sayin...

Moving on, this is Jethro's turn and this is his story with Sienna. This is like Notting Hill done Penny way, and in a way the only Penny does (who else, duh). And I loved it, right from the moment Sienna got lost in the middle of nowhere, sorta, all the way to the end. In addition to this being Jethro's turn, it's Sienna's story of being literally and figuratively lost then found.

Sienna is as famous as one can get. And that fame and acclaim still came with all the expected trappings which leads to doubts. She's not quite the cookie-cutter celebrity so that alone set her apart. With all that fame though, she's quite grounded in her personality, not completely eaten up by the Hollywood machination luckily. But where she's not quite grounded is her life outside of her work. She's funny, quirky, genuine, what's not to love!

Jethro has quite the past and after having turning his life around, he just wants the love and respect of the people he care for. He's sweet, considerate, manly, respectful, a good brother and friend, funny, and oh, hot, what's not to love!

Witty conversations, honest emotions, strong supporting characters, smart humor, honest to goodness connection, smooth flow to the story, diverse backgrounds, engaging, tangible heat...

GAH!!!

... what's not to love!!!

      Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000038_00074]

One word. Stay. It was all he had to do. Instead, he got on that bus and took my heart with him. That was seventeen years ago. I moved on. Marriage. Kids. White picket fence. Everything I ever wanted, but my husband betrayed me and I was left once again. Alone, penniless, and with two boys, I had no choice but to return to Tennessee. He wasn’t supposed to be there. I should’ve been safe. However, fate has a way of stepping in. This time around, the tables are turned. It’s my decision. Second chances do exist, but I don’t know if we can repair what’s already been broken . . .

A knock on my office door causes me to stop working. “Zach?” I push my glasses up the bridge of my nose and stand. I should’ve known avoiding him wasn’t really going to work when he can roll up any ol’ time he wants. It was only a matter of time. “Sorry to stop by without callin’, but the other night wasn’t exactly the best place for us to talk.” He removes his hat and tosses it on the chair. “I saw you in town yesterday trying to be incognito. Figured we should try to be civil.” Civil? He can’t just show his face when he wants. He doesn’t belong here. I don’t want to see him at all, much less in my home, the one place that’s my safe haven. Damn him for not taking the f*cking hint. “Your mother said you were out here. She didn’t throw something at me, so I took that as a good sign.” “What are you doing here?” I stand, slamming my hand on the desk. “My mother may not have thrown anything because she’s a proper Southern woman, but I’m not anymore. I’ve spent enough time in the North to not give a sh!t if I pelt you in the head with a stapler!” I grab it off the desk and rear back. “Whoa! Whoa!” he says with his hands raised. “I’m not coming to start anything. I just want to see how you are. I’ve missed you.” “A$$hole!” I throw the stapler at his head. “You don’t get to miss me!” He ducks as it makes a loud bang against the wall. Zach’s eyes widen as his lips turn up. “Seems all those years watching me play ball taught you how to throw.” I grab the next thing I see. “You apparently sucked at teaching!” “Felicia and I wanted to invite you over for dinner.” He has lost his damn mind. Zach lets out a sigh and moves closer. “I know it could be awkward, but I figured if . . .” “If what? That there’s a chance we could be friends? Hang out even? You need your head examined if you think that’ll happen.” I don’t know if maybe he forgot how we ended things. “Pres,” he chides. “Don’t ‘Pres’ me! You have some nerve showing up here.” “It was a long time ago.” I want to sock him in the face. “Leave,” I demand. Zach walks closer and crosses his arms across his chest. “I’m not leaving until we settle this. I want us to get things out in the air.” “Fine.” I grab the paper clip holder and toss it. I miss again. “That was in the air.”
