Beard With Me, an epic and breathtaking story from New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Penny Reid, is available now!

No one is better at surviving than Scarlet St. Claire and making the best out of circumstances beyond her control is Scarlet’s specialty. In an apocalyptic situation, she’d be the last person on earth, hermitting like a pro, singing along to her CD Walkman, and dancing like no one is watching.
Scarlet is clever, Scarlet is careful, and Scarlet is smart . . . except when it comes to Billy Winston.
No one is better at fighting than Billy Winston and raging against his circumstances—because nothing is beyond his control—is Billy’s specialty. In an apocalyptic situation, he’d be the first person on earth to lead others to safety, overcome catastrophe, or die trying.
Billy is fearless, Billy is disciplined, and Billy is honorable . . . except when it comes to Scarlet St. Claire.

‘Beard With Me’ is the origin story of Billy Winston and Scarlet St. Claire (aka Claire McClure) and is just the beginning of their epic love story.

*Scarlet* “Do you want me to leave?” Yes. That would be best, a wise voice said between my ears. So of course I inhaled deeply and said as calmly as I could manage, “I thought we were going to go get firewood.” “Okay. Good.” “But then,” I blurted, flustered and irritated with myself for not speaking wisdom, “You should go. You can’t tell me carting firewood back and forth between your house and here is how you want to spend the last of your Thanksgiving weekend.” “I didn’t say it was.” He began making his way up the incline. “But you just said—” “How about we make a deal.” Billy dropped the kindling next to my little woodpile, dusting his hands off on his pants. “I’ll cart the firewood, and you sing.” “You want me to serenade you while we carry firewood?” He smiled, slow and easy as he walked to me and reached out his hand. On autopilot, I accepted it and allowed him to help me up. As soon as I was standing, his gaze moved from my hairline down to my nose, lips, and then chin, saying quietly, “I’ll take a serenade from you anytime.” Thunk ka-thunk. That was my heart. It had been doing the thunk ka-thunk quite a lot around him. I ignored it, because what else could I do? “And you’re not carrying the wood.” He tugged on my hand, pulling me out of my daze and past my tent. “I will too carry wood.” Struggling to find my bearings, I stumbled after him. “I can carry logs just fine.” “You’ll carry a log.” Billy fit his fingers between mine, pressing our palms together and grinning at me like he was waiting for me to argue and he couldn’t wait. Snapping my mouth shut, I glared at him. “Nothing to say?” Maintaining my glare, I walked next to him. I wasn’t being led anywhere I didn’t wish to go. Not anymore. He wasn’t talking me into anything else. “That’s an awfully mean look, Scarlet.” His grin grew, his brutally attractive eyes glowing happily as he peered down at me. “Well, you deserve it. Always trying to tell me what I can and can’t do. I’m not arguing with you about this. I’m carrying as much wood as I want and you can take your stupid, chauvinistic opinions and shove them up your pretty-boy ass.” Goodness. Where had that come from? Billy’s steps faltered and his mouth fell open, his eyebrows rising high on his forehead. He stared at me, looking shocked as hell. And then in the next moment, he threw his head back and laughed. But he did not let go of me, instead bringing my knuckles to his chest as his deep, rumbly laughter filled the empty spaces between the trees, surrounding us. Crushing me. Yes. I was well and truly crushed as I could only watch Billy Winston laugh, desperately basking in the image of him so delighted and relaxed. I had the odd sense that his laughter also filled the empty spaces inside of me, the neglected, vacant rooms, and even a few places that felt brand-new, like he’d created them. All that noble honesty he carried around like a boulder abruptly lifted, revealing him. Just him. Carefree and young and happy. Someone he might’ve been if his burdens hadn’t been so heavy, his responsibilities so broad. It lasted only a minute, maybe two, maybe less, but I had the sense of being caught afterward. Billy’s laughter had receded, but he’d spun a web while I’d been staring at him, holding his hand. His grin became smaller and he bit his bottom lip, his gaze dropped to my mouth. “You think I’m pretty?” “You know you’re pretty,” I said, bizarrely out of breath, rattled, needing to anchor my focus to a tree beyond him and waging war against the heat climbing up my neck to my cheeks. Oddly, my eyes stung. I blinked. His attention was still on me. I felt it, but I didn’t dare look at him. I couldn’t handle one of Billy Winston’s intense stares right now. He’d probably use my scattered wits to his advantage, talk me into something I shouldn’t want to do, and then I’d be kicking myself later. “What’s wrong?” he asked, his voice deep with concern, all trace of his earlier humor gone. I huffed, trying half-heartedly to steal my hand back from him. He didn’t let it go, instead taking my tugging as a signal to step closer, filling my vision. “Scarlet—” “Are you ever going to teach me how to play the guitar?” I closed my eyes. He didn’t answer right away, and I felt him hesitate, his mind work before he muttered, “It’s only been a week.” A quality to his voice made me think he wasn’t answering the question I’d asked, but rather he was reminding himself that it had only been a week since we’d struck the deal. Was that only last week? Why does it feel like so much has changed? Then he said, “Don’t be angry.” “I’m not angry.” I was muddled, my head and heart hurt, I was incredibly confused, but I wasn’t angry. The air shifted and I felt him move closer. A second later, the fingers of his free hand were at my ear, tucking my hair behind it, his fingertips lingering at my neck, sending wave after wave of goose bumps every which way. I couldn’t breathe. I couldn’t swallow. I couldn’t think. Every nerve in my body strained toward him and I didn’t understand it. What is happening? “Have you ever been kissed, Scarlet?”

REVIEW: Lies by Kylie Scott

It's been a while since I've done a review here just because I want to. I mean not out of commitment for the ARCs I received, but just because. If you follow me on Twitter or you see me on GR, I do still post my reviews there but here, not so much anymore. So for me to be doing a post like this to begin with, it goes to show how I felt about this book.๐Ÿ˜ So on that note...

(Via Goodreads)

Review

RATING:

I've been obsessed with this book since Kylie Scott revealed its cover. What's not to love! Also, 'didn't hurt that like my DS brought to my attention, the model almost had a Keanu Reeves-esque vibe to him to boot! Then that blurb! I got True Lies vibe to it immediately, and I loved that movie! So needless to say, Kylie Scott couldn't have hooked me in any more if she tried. O but wait! She did, the moment I started reading it! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

If action flicks are your jam, then you will highly enjoy this one. As I got deeper into it, I started getting a Knight and Day feel to it, then slowly, a Red vibe, down to Helene's character, hello, Helen Mirren! No, just me? Just a tad?... It's like Kylie put all these romantic comedy action movies I love in one giant ball then she added her spin to it and gave it a unique flavour on its own. What more could have I asked for, right?!

Anyways, I gobbled this up quite easily. That hasn't happen in a long while. I tried to slow it down, I really did, but it was hard. Seriously, doubt you'll find it hard not to get sucked in just first few pages in. As the story unfolds, it really feels like watching a movie unfold. There was no downtime, it was action packed right til the end.

Betty is one kick-ass heroine. Loved her inner musings and her humor. As you get a glimpse into her insecurities here and there, I love how she bounces back and really embracing herself and recognizing her worth.

"But I'm the one wearing the oversized diamond ring, thank you very much. Suck it, b!tch!"

And Thom, love him just as much! Loved his humor just as much! For all his stoicism and a$$hole-tendencies, he was really trying to be the man Betty deserves. And considering this is all from Betty's POV, that should say something.

"There's never been anything wrong with you, and I will happily spend the rest of my life proving it to you. Or being tortured by your vicious, gorgeous self if that's what's required. Your choice."

I thought them being already in a relationship, albeit a rocky one and was really more told to you, it added a different dynamics. They're not quite starting from scratch, yet they are... Regardless, I love their chemistry, how acerbic and blistering it is in a delicious way, with a dash of humor...

"I don't think anyone's undressed me since I was a child."
"I undress you in my mind, if that counts..."

If anything else, whatever took minor points in my head are very subjective. I wish it were longer for starter. Also, maybe to have a chance of getting Thom's POV even if just scattered, or at least see the past as well from his eyes, just to give more depth about how he feels about Betty. If Kylie made me fall in love with Thom as it is, I can just imagine! ๐Ÿ˜

And 2 itty-bitty editing stuff:
~This is not isolated with this book. It's either camaraderie or comradery, but not comraderie... why are so many people falling into this trap?? ๐Ÿ˜
~I learned a bit of Australia/NZ-ism... fossick... how about that! ๐Ÿ˜›

Anyhoot, if you're looking a fun quick easy summer read with a side of sizzle, look no further!!

RELEASE BLITZ: All Grown Up by Vi Keeland

ALL GROWN UP IS LIVE!
A Standalone Contemporary Romance
#1 New York Times Bestselling Author Vi Keeland

SYNOPSIS
When I first encountered Ford Donovan, I had no idea who he was…well, other than the obvious. Young, gorgeous, successful, smart. Did I mention young? If I did, it bears repeating. Ford Donovan was too young for me.
Let’s back up to how it all started. My best friend decided I needed to start dating again. So, without my knowledge, she set up a profile for me on a popular dating site—one that invited men ages twenty-one to twenty-seven to apply for a date. Those nicknamed Cunnilingus King were told they’d go straight to the top for consideration. The profile wasn’t supposed to go live. Another point that bears repeating—it wasn’t supposed to.
Nevertheless, that’s how I met Ford, and we started messaging. He made me laugh; yet I was adamant that because of his age, we could only be friends. But after weeks of wearing me down, I finally agreed to one date only—my first after twenty years of being with my high school sweetheart. I knew it couldn’t last, but I was curious about him.
Though, you know what they say…curiosity kills the cat.
My legs wobbled walking into the restaurant.
Ford was seated at the bar. When he turned around, he took my breath away.
His sexy smile nearly melted my panties.
But…he looked so familiar.
As I got closer I realized why.
He was the son of the neighbor at our family’s summer home.
The boy next door.
Only now…he was all man.
I hadn’t seen him in years.
I left the restaurant and planned to put the entire crazy thing behind me.
Which I did. Until summer came.
And guess who decided to use his family’s summer home this year?

Eve’s face flashed on the screen, and I swiped to answer.
“Give me all the details.”
I shook my head repeatedly, even though she couldn’t see me. “It was horrible.”
“What happened? What did the bastard do to you? I’ll cut his balls off.”
Eve’s response made me smile for the first time since I’d laid eyes on my date. “No. It wasn’t that kind of horrible. He was a perfect gentleman.”
“Okay…”
"Very sweet and funny, too.”
“Sounds awful,” she said sarcastically.
“And gorgeous.”
“The balls on him.”
“That’s not the worst part.”
“Let’s see…he’s young, gorgeous, sweet, and funny. What could be worse than that? He’s hung like a horse?”
“I wouldn’t know. And you know why I don’t know that?”
“Because you’re an uptight prude who hasn’t been laid in years?”
“That might be true. But the larger problem is that he is one of Ryan’s friends.”
Eve cackled. “That’s not a problem, that’s fantastic! Bang his brains out and send him to pla y golf with your ex. Let him eat his heart out when he realizes what he lost.”
“Ummm…Eve, I wasn’t talking about my ex, Ryan. I was talking about my son.”
“I’ll be over in twenty minutes.”

Excerpt:

I look up into his dark eyes. “This is a dangerous game of cat and mouse we’re playing.” “More like a game of cat and bird,” he corrects. I straighten my posture, my nipples grazing his hard chest. “And we all know how that turns out in the end. The cat eats the bird.” Nine lightly scrapes his nails over my bare arms before pressing them into my skin. I gasp at the slight bite of pain. “No, the pretty bird swoops down from nowhere and sinks her sharp talons into the cat, marking him for life.” There’s no sarcasm in his voice. I don’t know how to begin to process what it is he’s saying. It takes all of my concentration to get out my next few words. “And...and then what?” Nine picks me up off the floor in one quick motion, flipping me back onto the bed. He crawls over my body, hovering above me, pinning my wrists to the mattress. He grazes his teeth over the sensitive spot behind my ear. He lowers his voice to a deliciously deep rumble that has me vibrating with his every word. “And then he eats her.”

Review:

RATING:

First, that cover!!!! That alone deserves half-rating, if not a full one, in my books. No?!?! kjfhjtjsvlcn!!!!! Holy smokes!!!

This is Nine's story. Kevin's. Preppy's brother!!! If you're a fan of the series like I am, this is much anticipated. Am I right, or am I right? So whatever else I say from hereon, take it with a grain of salt. Yes, this can standalone, just to clarify, but definitely best if you read the previous books in the series.

Nine first made a brief appearance in Preppy's book. With a brother like Preppy, how can you not be intrigued by this young fella! Nine's every bit of a Clearwater, yum! Just like his brother but also different. Preppy is after all in a league of his own. Oh, but he sure fits that circle of Logan Beach fellas. And he's worthy to be in that circle.

Lenny is your typical TM heroine, and that's a good thing. They may be young but they have lived twenty lives enough to break some people but never TM's heroines. They come out even stronger. With all of Lenny's handicap, she's smart, funny and quite resilient.

Put these 2 together and you get an electric connection. Holy sizzle!

The story will keep you glued. There are bad men out there. These boys live dangerous and violent lives after all and they will do everything to protect their women. Nine is no exception.

Now the rating itself... umm... hmmm... how should I put this... I'm not quite liking myself right now, quite frankly. I truly wish I can say I love this book... sigh...

Loved the prologue, but I feel moving the timeline ahead after didn't help. I didn't have enough time to fully buy into the feelings, unfortunately, sad sigh... Maybe if it was longer? That could be it, I suppose. I've been spoiled by TM and have a gotten at least 2 books for each boys in the past. Wishful thinking... o well...

(runs away to duck)

About the Author

T.M. (Tracey Marie) Frazier never dreamed that a single person would ever read a word she wrote when she published her first book. Now, she is a five-time USA Today bestselling author and her books have been translated into numerous languages and published all around the world. T.M. enjoys writing what she calls sexy‘wrongside of the tracks romance’ with morally corrupt anti-heroes and ballsy heroines. Her books have been described as raw, dark and gritty. Basically, what that means, is while some authors are great at describing a flower as it blooms, T.M. is better at describing it in the final stages of decay.
