Review

A lot of friends on Goodreads love Rachel’s writing and I haven’t gotten to any of her books yet on my TBR list (big surprise!), so this is a first for me.

Cody and Lainey have a history that was interrupted when something happened to Cody. Presumed dead, Lainey moved on, fast forward 3 years, about to get married. But Cody resurfaced. And so began the triangle that is Lainey, Dax, and Cody; a complicated triangle that is (is there one that isn’t?). It’s a weird predicament that everybody finds themselves in, and in addition, their past bleeding into their present, their present obscuring their future, and lives could be at stake, as in real physical danger.

Lainey’s doing her best to sort her feelings out while Cody’s feelings towards Lainey haven’t changed or waivered but one thing that not even Lainey can deny is this deep connection they have. Ooomph! Then there’s figuring out where Dax fits in and what is really important to each other in order to move forward.

I’m not a big fan of love triangle and I knowingly walked into this one, because of friends’ review of her other books, like I said earlier and I was curious as to how Rachel will handle it. I admit, I was confused with the way some things unfolded yet I wasn’t bothered by it. And with a love triangle, someone is bound to get hurt, right?! Hmmm… And with a love triangle, some actions will constitute to cheating, no matter what, right? Hmmm… And with a love triangle, some things are never just black and white, right? Hmmm… This made me think more than I anticipated, just thinking about their decisions and, whether or not, I or someone I know would react the same way. Lainey’s background caught me off guard, Dax’ actions caught me off guard, and Cody’s decisions caught me off guard…I was confused, yet I understood. I was frowning, yet I was swooning at the same time... I loved all the thoughts and words that came out of Cody! And yes, I don't envy Lainey's position at all...

And if I can just grumble a bit, the whole time I was reading this, I wish Lainey’s history was laid out better. It left me with some questions which led to some things not making sense which then led me to just accept certain things without choice… O well. Regardless, it wasn’t enough to take away my pleasure in reading this.

Forget my ramblings, all I just wanna say is that after reading this, yes, there’s the heat, sweet mommah! Then there's Cody, of course, who you can't help but fall in love with. But more importantly, there’s humor, there’s drama, there’s suspense, and there’s even action at the end. Yup!

Now to work my way backwards and read Crazy Good and Set in Stone
