Excerpt:

I look up into his dark eyes. “This is a dangerous game of cat and mouse we’re playing.” “More like a game of cat and bird,” he corrects. I straighten my posture, my nipples grazing his hard chest. “And we all know how that turns out in the end. The cat eats the bird.” Nine lightly scrapes his nails over my bare arms before pressing them into my skin. I gasp at the slight bite of pain. “No, the pretty bird swoops down from nowhere and sinks her sharp talons into the cat, marking him for life.” There’s no sarcasm in his voice. I don’t know how to begin to process what it is he’s saying. It takes all of my concentration to get out my next few words. “And...and then what?” Nine picks me up off the floor in one quick motion, flipping me back onto the bed. He crawls over my body, hovering above me, pinning my wrists to the mattress. He grazes his teeth over the sensitive spot behind my ear. He lowers his voice to a deliciously deep rumble that has me vibrating with his every word. “And then he eats her.”

RATING:

First, that cover!!!! That alone deserves half-rating, if not a full one, in my books. No?!?! kjfhjtjsvlcn!!!!! Holy smokes!!!

This is Nine's story. Kevin's. Preppy's brother!!! If you're a fan of the series like I am, this is much anticipated. Am I right, or am I right? So whatever else I say from hereon, take it with a grain of salt. Yes, this can standalone, just to clarify, but definitely best if you read the previous books in the series.

Nine first made a brief appearance in Preppy's book. With a brother like Preppy, how can you not be intrigued by this young fella! Nine's every bit of a Clearwater, yum! Just like his brother but also different. Preppy is after all in a league of his own. Oh, but he sure fits that circle of Logan Beach fellas. And he's worthy to be in that circle.

Lenny is your typical TM heroine, and that's a good thing. They may be young but they have lived twenty lives enough to break some people but never TM's heroines. They come out even stronger. With all of Lenny's handicap, she's smart, funny and quite resilient.

Put these 2 together and you get an electric connection. Holy sizzle!

The story will keep you glued. There are bad men out there. These boys live dangerous and violent lives after all and they will do everything to protect their women. Nine is no exception.

Now the rating itself... umm... hmmm... how should I put this... I'm not quite liking myself right now, quite frankly. I truly wish I can say I love this book... sigh...

Loved the prologue, but I feel moving the timeline ahead after didn't help. I didn't have enough time to fully buy into the feelings, unfortunately, sad sigh... Maybe if it was longer? That could be it, I suppose. I've been spoiled by TM and have a gotten at least 2 books for each boys in the past. Wishful thinking... o well...

(runs away to duck)

About the Author

T.M. (Tracey Marie) Frazier never dreamed that a single person would ever read a word she wrote when she published her first book. Now, she is a five-time USA Today bestselling author and her books have been translated into numerous languages and published all around the world. T.M. enjoys writing what she calls sexy‘wrongside of the tracks romance’ with morally corrupt anti-heroes and ballsy heroines. Her books have been described as raw, dark and gritty. Basically, what that means, is while some authors are great at describing a flower as it blooms, T.M. is better at describing it in the final stages of decay. She loves meeting her readers, but if you see her at an event please don’t pinch her because she's not ready to wake up from this amazing dream.
