Every little girl dreams of the fairytale. The one where the white knight rushes in to save her from the clutches of evil. They fall in love, have babies, and live happily ever after.
By that definition, my life should have been a fairytale too.
When I was eight years old, Caven Hunt saved me from the worst kind of evil to walk the Earth. It didn’t matter that I was a kid. I fell in love with him all the same.
But that was where my fairytale ended.
Years later, a one-night stand during the darkest time imaginable gave us a little girl. It was nothing compared to the pitch black that consumed me when I was forced to leave her with Caven for good.
At the end of every fairytale, the happily-ever-after is the one thing that remains consistent. It wasn’t going to be mine, but there hadn’t been a night that passed where I hadn’t prayed that it would be hers.
I owed Caven my life.
However, I owed that innocent child more.
And that included ripping the heart from my chest and facing her father again.

WW You FOR WEB.jpg

When I was fifteen, a single bullet changed my life. I spent the next decade trying to outrun the devastation of my past, building an empire that would shield me from whatever life could throw at me.
But all the money in the world couldn’t help me when I found a screaming newborn abandoned on my doorstep.
I’d never wanted to be a father. Passing the sludge that ran through my veins down to an innocent child seemed like a tragedy. But there she was—pink cheeks, red hair, and mine.
Somehow, against all logic, that little girl became the best thing that ever happened to me. It was impossible to stay lost in the past when I was the only one who could protect her future.
Which is exactly why, when her mother came back four years later, I was ready for battle.
If only I could stop myself from falling in love with her during the war.

IN THE BEGINNING...

They told them they were evil.
They told them they were possessed by demons.
They told them that darkness ran in their veins.

Holy Innocents Home for Children is a haven for orphaned boys who have nothing and no one. The priests watch over them, educate them, raise them in the family of the church.

Except for some.

Seven of the orphans are no ordinary boys. They attract the attention of the priests for their acts of violence, of bloodlust. The priests realize these boys are drawn to the darkness.

And the priests are no ordinary priests. They are the Brethren, a secret sect who believe themselves on a divine mission to seek out evil in the boys in their care. Seek it out, and then drive it out.

The seven have fallen from God’s grace. And the Brethren will cleanse their blackened souls…

Dark Contemporary Romance novella. Contains sexual situations, violence, sensitive and taboo subjects, offensive language and topics some may find triggering. Recommended for age 18 years and up.

Tillie is both an independent and traditionally published author, and writes many genres including: Contemporary Romance, Dark Romance, Young Adult and New Adult novels.

When she is not writing, Tillie enjoys nothing more than curling up on her couch watching movies, drinking far too much coffee, while convincing herself that she really doesn’t need that extra square of chocolate.

RELEASE BLITZ: Deke (Fake Boyfriend, Book 3) by Eden Finley

Release Date: January 9, 2019
Cover Design: Kellie Dennis / Book Cover by Design

Synopsis

Ollie
Word of advice: don’t come out to random guys in public restrooms. Even if they’re charming and adorably nerdy and offer to help. My family believe I can’t be happy if I’m not out to the world. I have a bitter ex-boyfriend and an unstable NHL career to show for it. A fake boyfriend seems like an easy and quick solution to get my family off my back, and this guy is volunteering. I take him up on it without asking his name. I really should’ve asked for his name.

Lennon
Word of advice: learn how to introduce yourself properly. In my defense, I don’t recognize Ollie Strömberg right away. I cover football, not hockey. I’m not supposed to see him again, and he’s never supposed to find out I’m a reporter. That all changes when my editor reassigns me. It’s a lesson I should’ve learned by now. Nothing’s changed since high school. Jocks still hate nerds. But even worse, athletes hate journalists. Especially ones who know their secret.

Review

RATING:

Ok, if you’re like me and a fan of the series, you’ll be delighted with this one. The first one will always be a top fave (my GR review here). The second one was good, but I thought not as good as the first one (my GR review here), and this one, although it won’t top the first, is better than the 2nd. Having said all that, if you haven’t read the first 2, it’s ok, this is a standalone.

They had an interesting start, on top of practically sitting on opposite side of fence, the athlete and the sports journalist. Ollie and his family are sweet people. I get his reticence about coming out publicly. I get why Lennon just wanted what’s best for him. Lennon, at first, may not have enough to stand out outside of his name, but I’ve grown to really like him. I love his humor. I get why Ollie was willing to do things for him.

One thing that I think that Eden does well are the way her characters interact with each other and those around them. I thoroughly enjoy the naturalness and the humor she injects into it. So, while the storylines are not unique, she makes the characters’ personalities shine.

It’s now established in my head that I’m definitely a fan. Which is why I’m glad the series is continuing even though they won’t be about fake relationships anymore. Hello, how can I not be excited. First, Talon! Then, Jet, yessss!!!

About the Author

Eden Finley is an Amazon bestselling author who writes steamy contemporary romances that are full of snark and light-hearted fluff.
She doesn’t take anything too seriously and lives to create an escape from real life for her readers. The ideas always begin with a wackadoodle premise, and she does her best to turn them into romances with heart. With a short attention span that rivals her five-year-old son's, she writes multiple different pairings: MM, MMF, and MF. She's also an Australian girl and apologises for her Australianisms that sometimes don't make sense to anyone else.

TOP 5 2018 Reads

Well, well, another year bites the dust. I thought my 2017 book slump was bad. Turned out 2018 was worse. From my usual over 100 books a year, it went down to roughly half of that in 2017. And guess what, that further went down to more than half again in 2018. O well... I will find my reading groove back, I'm sure... eventually...

Way fewer books or not, I've decided to still do my Top 5 picks, because why not!

(In chronological order)

1)  Sex, Not Love by Vi Keeland
An auto-read author, Vi knows how to do meet-cute in my mind. This one's no exception. Hunter and Nat, *insert heart eyes*!!!
(Review)

2) Look the Part by Jewel E Ann
Another auto-read author for me. My love for Jewel's words knows no bound.
(Review)

3) Marriage of Inconvenience by Penny Reid
The perfect conclusion(?) to the series. Dan's the man!!!
(Review)

4) Fake Out by Eden Finley
Haven't reviewed this here in our blog but I have on GR. A new-to-me author, don't know how I've not heard of Eden before. Eden completely sold me on the fake relationship trope.
(Review)

5) Riven by Roan Parrish
A superb rockstar romance in my mind. It has all the feels and all the heat.
(Review)

There you have it, folks! Having done this on the fly, I must say I'm so glad I did because remembering these top reads made me remember to appreciate and acknowledge not just these good reads but the good things in general. Despite the crappy things that have happened in the world this year, there were still plenty to be thankful for. And from a reader perspective alone, the words of these authors, the ability to offer reprieve and get lost in the worlds they create, that's a big thing in and of itself.

On that note, I wish you all a new prosperous year full of blessings and good reads!

RELEASE DAY: Across the Horizon by Aly Martinez

“Sometimes love happens when you least expect it.” That was what my husband’s mistress told me the day I found out about their affair.

I didn’t believe it until five minutes later when mouth-watering celebrity chef Tanner Reese walked up, tossed his arm around my shoulders, and told my cheating husband to take a hike. Tanner and I couldn’t have been more different. He spent his weekends at clubs, rubbing elbows with fellow A-listers. I spent mine in yoga pants with cheese boards and a glass of wine—or six. Our relationship shouldn’t have worked, but it did. That is until Tanner proved to me that even though love happens when you least expect it... So does heartbreak.
