It's out!!!
Blurb
His darkness drew me in.
A mystery with a past I wanted to solve.
He was cold, like ice, but set me on fire.
A heat I hadn't felt in ages.
But when I saw his face, I burned...
In mourning
Again.
Brea Bradley
She melted from my voice--shuddered from my touch.
But trembled from the memories
That my face brought back.
She wanted more...
Maybe even him.
I wasn't the hand she counted on.
But I was what she was dealt...
A Wild Ace with no way to win.
Review
RATING:
Brea is Frankie’s friend from the Unblocked series. This is now her story with Trapper.
Brea is one feisty woman and I really like her from the time she was introduced in the other series. Here we see more what lays underneath that feistiness, a woman who just recently recovered from a loss. Enter Trapper, who she met by pure coincidence. Trapper is a man with his own demons. As they get to know each other, it turns out they’re more connected than they thought. And while they learn to move past that connection that blindsided them both, Trapper’s secrets are also unraveling. A lot to process for a woman like Brea, heck, for anyone, really.
Like I said earlier, I really like Brea. And she totally deserves Trapper. The same way that Trapper deserves her. Trapper is one dirty-talker who knows how to light up Brea, heck, and the reader, really. *nudge-wink* And of course, he’s more than that. Despite his past, he’s found a way to make something of himself. He didn’t lose his way and managed to become a decent man at that.
I really love the ties that bound them in ways that neither one of them expected. I love the heat between them in ways that neither one of them can deny, from their first text, to their first phone call, to their first real meeting... There aren’t a whole lot of smexy times but were they ever hot when it happened!
There’s darkness to this I didn’t expect but totally appreciate because it felt like it added depth to the story line. There are possible triggers for some readers. Having said that, I felt like Marni could’ve also pushed the boundaries a little more as far as the mood is concerned; for all the dark topics touched on, when all was revealed, I couldn’t help but feel lightness to the mood that didn’t match the dark emotions. That’s just me though…
In the end, I love how the twists surprised me enough to catch me off guard. By the time a big part of Trapper’s life is revealed, although I had a pretty good idea early on, getting that confirmation at the end was still a nice reveal. And that was one sweet epilogue, I thought. Oh Trapper…
