BLURB

The rugged men of the Carolina Cold Fury hockey team are winning hearts once again in another scorching novel from New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett.
The stakes have never been higher for Carolina Cold Fury goalie Ryker Evans. With his contract running out, he’s got a year left to prove he’s still at the top of his game. And since his wife left him, Ryker has been balancing life as a pro-hockey star and a single parent to two daughters. Management is waiting for him to screw up. The fans are ready to pounce. Everybody’s taking dirty shots—except for the fiery redhead whose faith in Ryker gives him a fresh start.
As the league’s only female general manager, Gray Brannon has learned not to mix business with pleasure. And yet even this tough, talented career woman can’t help breaking her own rules as she gives Ryker everything she’s got. She hopes their hot streak will last forever, but with Ryker’s conniving ex plotting to reclaim her man, the pressure’s on Gray to step up and save a tender new love before it’s too late.

REVIEW

I think this just might be my favorite in the series! While I’ve enjoyed the other Cold Fury hotties, Ryker, well, I thought he was quite swoonalicious, yes he was!.

This is Ryker and Gray’s story. He of the single dad scouted by Gray to be Cold Fury’s goalie; and she of the daughter of the CEO who was previously a scout but now the GM of the Cold Fury team. With them realizing their attraction for each other, it’s a tenuous situation at best. How can they move their relationship forward when so much is at stake as far as their careers are concerned? And then there was Ryker’s ex who wasn’t fully out of the picture…

I admit at times I had to convince myself harder to buy into some of the feelings; like the initial attraction between those 2 or how Gray felt near the end when having to deal with Ryker’s ex. Or should I say Ryker convinced me, perhaps? Hehe…

Gray had a decent upbringing and past, so not much emotional baggage other than her having to understand her feelings towards Ryker. She’s not overly girly but also knows that she didn’t need to sacrifice her femininity to be taken seriously by the boys. Ryker, what’s not to like??? He’s an awesome dad. He braids his daughter’s hair, for crying out loud, and when that thing happened to his daughter, I fell for it, hook, line and sinker. He’s a responsible dude, not overly serious and even self-deprecating at times, he knows how to think with his bigger brain, he understood Gray’s position, he’s progressive with his thoughts, AND he’s hot!!!*g*

I got hooked on Sawyer Bennett from the start of this series, so much that I keep an eye now on any new book on this series. Heck, any of her new book, period. And I’m hoping to get to her other previous books now too. I think this particular series just keeps getting better. If you’re looking for a hot sports romance read, I think it’s safe to say you need to make room for these Cold Fury men, especially Ryker:D

Lastly, did I say already how I loved the grand gesture at the end? No? Well, yes, I did!
